Mount Maculot

If you like to experience mountain trekking, Mt. Maculot in Cuenca, Batangas is a famous destination for mountain climbers in the Philippines. It takes about two hours drive from Manila to get to Mt. Maculot in Cuenca, Batangas.

There is a mountaineer’s store at the jump off point where you can buy your necessities like drinking water. The climb to the top requires an average hiking difficulty. It takes about two hours to reach the summit.

The mountain trail is well established and pretty easy to climb.

Most of the trail is covered by trees.



There's this part of the trail where high cogon grasses abounds and sway when the wind blows that covers the trail.



A sneak peak of the view about halfway to the top of the mountain. A beautiful spot to enjoy the view and the cold breeze.





There are challenges like the steep and rocky climb. You have to clim up and down a cliff to reach the summit. The reward for your effort is great when you get the beautiful view of Taal Lake and Taal Volcano.

There is this place in Mt. Maculot called the Rockies. It is a rocky formation covered with green plants overlooking Taal Volcano and Taal Lake.



The view is breathtaking when you reach the summit.

Truly Mt. Maculot in Cuenca, Batangas is a great mountain climbing experience. Take your time at the top and enjoy the panoramic view of Taal Lake, the world famous Taal Volcano and the plains of Batangas. Going down the mountain is a lot easier and you will be back on the road in no time.

  1. The climb was pretty challenging -- though when your in the middle of the climb, it would be a lot easier 'coz you already got your pace.

    The summit was a rewarding experience for all of us, we had a breath-taking view of Taal lake and volcano [as seen in the pics above] plus! the freshest and purest air ever :)

    Definitely, recommended to all first time-hikers :)

    Things to bring in the climb:
    - at least 2 liters of drinking water
    - food!! jelly ace are highly recommended for rehydration; power/energy bars [eg snickers]
    - a lightweight camera that you can carry easily and access from your day-pack
    - high SPF sunblock

    REMEMBER: to pack light for the climb :) so you won't be hurting your back
